It was long the beloved weapon of choice of the legendary corsair, Luzaf the Blackheart. Still somewhat unbelievable stories abound of the pistol's sheer destructive force, said to be such that it once sank a great battleship by blowing a hole clean through the hull.

Death Penalty appeared in Final Fantasy VII, as one of the obtainable Ultimate Weapons equippable by the character Vincent Valentine. It also appeared in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, as one of Vincent's equippable gun frames. It is considered the most powerful gun which Vincent can use.
