Policy/Usage on {{Drop Rate}}, {{Abundance}} and {{Average Price}} Templates

These templates are related, but separately provide a way for FFXIclopedia editors to collectively count and calculate drop rates and prices for various items and activities. Below describes the manner in which each should be used, and identifies certain preferences and policies for such use.

{{Drop Rate}} Template

{{Drop Rate|number of items|total}}
{{Drop Rate|100%}}
  1. This template may be used to record the rate at which any individual item may drop from a monster.
    1. When used in this manner, this template should be used on the monster page only (i.e. not on zone pages).
  2. This template may be used to record the rate at which an item is acquired from a chest where multiple items are possible (i.e. BCNM, assault, etc.)
  3. The "100%" option should be used where appropriate to demonstrate that the item drops 100% of the time.
  4. When adding drop rate information, add your results to the existing tally, instead of replacing them. For example, if the current tally is 3/45, and your results are 1/6, then the new value should read 4/51.
  5. If multiples of a single item drop from a monster, simply add the number that dropped to the tally. For example, if a monster drops three of an item, you would add 3/1 to the tally.
    1. Drop rates that exceed 100% are acceptable when multiples of an item can drop.
  6. Each instance of this template is independent of each other. Thus, the total drops recorded for a particular monster do not need to be even for each drop. The preference is to report on each possible drop, but it is not necessary.
    1. Note: No accuracy is sacrificed with varying tallies between dropped items. Those with more reports are simply inherently more accurate than those with less reports. Similarly, no special precautions are necessary when reporting drops where treasure hunter or other similar abilities were employed, as the results will even out over time.

{{Abundance}} Template

{{Abundance|number of items|total}}
{{Abundance|map}}
{{Abundance|quested}}
  1. This template should be used to record the rate at which an item is acquired from a treasure chest or from a hobby (i.e. where one and only one result is possible)
  2. The "map" and "quested" options should be used where appropriate to demonstrate that opening a chest will result in a map or quest item.
  3. When adding drop rate information, add your results to the existing tally, instead of replacing them. For example, if the current tally is 3/45, and your results are 1/6, then the new value should read 4/51.
  4. Unlike the {{Drop Rate}} template, every potential item must have the same recorded total items, because when you open a treasure chest and receive Item A, you are necessarily not receiving Item B.
    1. Note: This is necessary because the template adds the "common", "uncommon" etc. text, which would not be accurate if not reported for each item.

{{Average Price}} Template

{{Average Price|total gil|total results}}
  1. This template may be used to track the amount of gil received from treasure chests or monsters.
  2. When reporting your received gil, be sure to add your results to the existing total gil, instead of replacing them. If the current tally is 10000/10, and your results are 1000/1, then the new value should read 11000/11.
