Historical Background

Laila is likely inspired by the Final Fantasy II character, Leila, a scantily-clad pirate whose signature weapons are daggers. In Final Fantasy XI, Laila's accent does not match that of her mother Annika, and lacks sophistication despite Laila's wealthy family. Instead, Laila's accent is identical to the accent of the pirate Leila from Final Fantasy II.
