Description[edit]

Battle Application: Area of Effect

Damage Type: Magic

Additional Notes: Area of Effect Damage

  • Very powerful but random ability.
  • Damage is not reduced by the number of targets in the area of affect.
  • A die is rolled (outcome is between 1 and 6) which determines both the damage of the ability and which targets will be affected by the ability.
  • Higher die roll numbers deal more damage.
  • The number rolled on the die must be a factor of the target's level to determine whether the target is affected. These means that all enemies are damaged by a roll of 1, but the damage is the weakest. The fewest monsters are affected by a roll of 6, but monsters that are affected take massive damage.
    • Level 119 Cait Siths with high Magic Attack Bonus can consistently deal over 10,000 damage to each affected target with rolls of at least 4.
    • Light element weakness and resistance affect the damage. Umbrils can easily take over 21,000 damage from one use of Level ? Holy.
  • Targets with levels that are prime numbers, such as levels 101, 103, 107, 109, or 113, cannot be affected by this ability unless it rolls a 1. Click here[1] for a list of prime numbers.
  • Levels 108, 90, 84, 72, 48, 36, 30, 24, and 12 have 5/6 chance to hit, meaning 83.3% accuracy
  • Level 60 and level 120 has a 100% chance to hit as it is divisible by all rolls.
  • Please add: best ways of determining a NM and regular mob's level
  • Average accuracy for a group of mobs between levels 60 and 69 is 26/60 or 43.3% and for only the even numbered mobs between 60 and 68 is 18/30 or 60% and odd numbered mobs between 61 and 69 is 8/30 or 26.6%
  • Even Levels (multiple of 2) are much more likely to hit than odd numbers (not divisible by 2) as only 1's and some 3's and 5's will hit them where as all 1's and 2's hit even mobs and any eligible 6 or 4. Basically don't use Level ? Holy on odd level mobs. Always use it on level 60 and 120 mobs, and great candidates are level 108, 90, 84, 72, 48, 36, 30, 24, and 12 mobs.
  • Currently unknown but assumed that all dice rolls have an equal chance of landing, i.e. an even distribution.
