More Questions Than Answers (pt.1) - Ru'Lude Gardens
Pherimociel: You adventurers are quick to hear the news!

Lady Esha'ntarl has returned to us!

Pherimociel: The Jeunoan Armada has been authorized to begin an assault on the wyrms!

Pherimociel: We are conducting final flight inspections on all vessels.
Please keep out of the way and allow the engineers to do their job.

Makki-Chebukki: Waaah! <sniff>

Kukki-Chebukki: Waaah! <snuffle>

Cherukiki: Waaah! <gurgle>

Pherimociel: What a racket.
Those Tarutaru were punished for their crimes of stealing a warship and flying out of Jeuno.

Pherimociel: They claim they were just following orders, but Lord Nag'molada is also awaiting disciplinary action to be decided by the Armathrwn Society.

Pherimociel: No matter your position, if you break the law...

Pherimociel: Hm? Isn't that lady a friend of yours?

Ulmia: Oh, you three!

Ulmia: Whatever is the matter?

Ulmia: Come now, no more tears.
Surely things are not that bad?

Cherukiki: We're done for.

Kukki-Chebukki: Our necks are on the chopping block.

Makki-Chebukki: We've gotta get out of here!

Ulmia: Whatever for?
There are rumors all over town about the brave Tarutaru who saved an important official.

Ulmia: Is there some other terrible failure that you are regretting?

Makki-Chebukki: No, we've done everything right.
We used the right blend of deceit and betrayal, honey and vinegar...

Kukki-Chebukki: We bribed the townsfolk, and avoided the authorities...

Cherukiki: We've groomed ourselves into the perfect candidates to become bureaucrats of the future...

Prishe: They have to run off because I showed up.

Ulmia: Prishe!?

Prishe: What the hell is wrong with you!
If you keep this up, I'm gonna start rethinking my plan to put you in charge of Tavnazia.

Prishe: Get yourselves together, or I'm gonna kick you into next Watersday!
You have a responsibility to look out for Ulmia and everyone else in the marquisate!

Makki-Chebukki: Wh-what?

Prishe: Sorry to fly off without an explanation, Ulmia.

Prishe: And you, Player name.
Thanks for worrying about me.

Prishe: There's not much time, but I'll tell you what I know.
Get yourselves to the audience chamber.

Ulmia: Prishe...?

More Questions Than Answers (pt.2) - Ru'Lude Gardens
Esha'ntarl: Hello, Ulmia.

You've been through quite an ordeal.

Ulmia: C-Cardinal Mildaurion...!?

Ulmia: What is going on...?

Esha'ntarl: I am sorry, Ulmia.
We don't have time for lengthy explanations.

Esha'ntarl: However, there is one thing that I must tell you.

Esha'ntarl: My true name is Esha'ntarl.

Esha'ntarl: Ten thousand years ago I was born in Al'Taieu, the city that enfolds the fifth mothercrystal.

Esha'ntarl: Nag'molada, and the other members of the Armathrwn Society that now govern Jeuno, are also of an ancient race of people--a race recently awoken from a centuries-long sleep.

Esha'ntarl: But I am different from the others.
Through an unusual twist of fate, I was granted immortality.

Ulmia: !?

Esha'ntarl: I pledged to use this unending life to bring to fruition the pact made between Selh'teus and the terrestrial avatars.

Esha'ntarl: After the passing of ten thousand years, a child of destiny would be born in the fated land.
The Keeper of the Apocalypse...the one I have sworn to destroy.

Esha'ntarl: I have spent many years preparing for the coming of the keeper.

Esha'ntarl: It has been an incredibly long journey.

Esha'ntarl: I have traveled to the far reaches of Vana'diel in search of lost secrets...

Esha'ntarl: I have found solace and encouragement in the many encounters I have had along the way...

Esha'ntarl: But then, when I came to a certain place, I was warned:

Esha'ntarl: Destroying the Keeper of the Apocalypse will merely set the darkness free to reincarnate in another body.

Esha'ntarl: To break this cycle, the darkness itself must be obliterated.

Esha'ntarl: It must be erased from the place where all life originates and where all life eventually returns--the mothercrystal.

Esha'ntarl: To fully eradicate the darkness, the Keeper of the Apocalypse must be destroyed not in the form of a human, but in the form of a god.

Esha'ntarl: That is why I conceived a plan to use the Lay of the Immortals to resurrect Promathia.

Ulmia: Resurrection...and destruction...?

Prishe: But that plan eventually failed.

Prishe: At the baptismal ceremony, I...

Prishe: At that time, I was having my strings pulled by the Emptiness inside me.

Prishe: I lived in the Tavnazian Cathedral since the time of my earliest memories, and believed that the Gates of Paradise must be opened.

Prishe: But as my bad luck would have it, the Emptiness inside me reacted to the baptismal vessel and was sealed within this magicite.

Prishe: My world was tipped upside down.
I was suddenly able to read people's thoughts and, just like Cardinal Mildaurion, I never aged another day.

Ulmia: So that is what happened.
You were the Keeper of the Apocalypse...

Ulmia: But things are different now.
You are no longer the one, are you?

Esha'ntarl: ...

Ulmia: Are you saying that nothing has changed? What is to happen to Prishe?

Esha'ntarl: Judging by the actions of Bahamut, the keeper is still among us.

Esha'ntarl: But over the last twenty years I have watched over the lands of Vana'diel, I have seen no other possible incarnations...

Prishe: Bahamut wishes to see me smashed to bits in the form of the Twilight God.

Prishe: It was Diabolos that let me in on my destiny as the Keeper of the Apocalypse.

Prishe: It is my fate to be destroyed along with this magicite, and set adrift from the cycle of the mothercrystal.

Ulmia: No! This is too horrible!

Prishe: Listen to me, Ulmia.
We've come pretty far in this quest.
I've already heard four of the verses needed to resurrect the Twilight God.

Prishe: Once we have the last verse, we can finally stand before Bahamut...!

Ulmia: Please, Prishe!
Do you hear what you are saying!?

Ulmia: How can I let you offer your very existence to Promathia?
There must be another way...!

Esha'ntarl: Calm youself, Ulmia.
Prishe will not be coming with us.

Esha'ntarl: The last verse of the "Memoria de la S^tona" no longer exists, and there is no weapon left to battle the Twilight God.

Esha'ntarl: Pitting the full force of Jeuno against the wyrms is our only recourse.

Esha'ntarl: There is no other way to save the children of Altana from extinction.

Prishe: But Miss Mildaurion! What about me?

Wolfgang: Lady Esha'ntarl!
The Jeunoan Armada is prepared for battle!

Esha'ntarl: I must go.
Beyond the sea of endless clouds.

Ulmia: Cardinal Mildaurion!

Esha'ntarl: Prishe. Ulmia.
It is only a matter of time until Jeuno becomes a war zone.

Esha'ntarl: I will prepare an airship for your return to Tavnazia.

Esha'ntarl: Protect that which is most dear to you.

Prishe: Dammit!
There's no way in hell it's ending this way!
It's time to put it all on the line!

Ulmia: Prishe!?

Prishe: Player name!
Ulmia!

Prishe: I know you guys can do it!

Prishe: You're strong enough now to beat the hell out of me when I become Promathia...

Prishe: Listen, there is someone in Selbina who knows the fifth verse.
Her memory is a little shoddy, though...

Prishe: Find the fifth verse!

Prishe: I need you to do this!
You hear me!?

Ulmia: I cannot...!
Prishe, wait!

Louverance: Ulmia, I have heard the entire story.

Prishe: Louverance!?

Louverance: This must be the guidance of Altana.
The girl with a "shoddy memory" in Selbina is well known to me.

Louverance: And I also happen to possess the means to revive her past.
Let us be on our way.

More Questions Than Answers - Selbina
Mathilde: Hello?

How can I help you...?

Ulmia: Your name wouldn't be Emeline, by any chance?

Ulmia: My name is Ulmia.
We were in the choir together, do you remember...?

Mathilde: ...?

Mathilde: I'm sorry, I don't remember much about my childhood.

Mathilde: But I'm sure you must be mistaken. My name is Mathilde.
I work here at the Weaver's Guild.

Ulmia: ...
Yes, you're right. I must be mistaken.
Please accept my apologies.

Ulmia: You so resemble a girl that used to sing in the choir with me, I just...

Ulmia: You don't happen to have a younger brother, do you?

Mathilde: A younger brother...
Why, yes, I did have a younger brother, only...
We were separated in the war.

Mathilde: But I believe he is still out there...somewhere...
I do hope he is happy...

Ulmia: I am sorry to have brought up this painful subject.
I'll be on my way...

Louverance: I have one last request for you.

Louverance: There is a certain song that you might know.
Will you sing it for us?

Mathilde: A...song?

Louverance: I am sure you have this song locked somewhere in your heart. Please try to remember.

Louverance: The Tavnazian Cathedral...
Cardinal Mildaurion...
A song known as the "Lay of the Immortals"...

Louverance: The fifth verse...

And so the legend ends...

...began......crystal...

Ulmia: ...
Was that some kind of spell...?

Louverance: The Mimeo Mirror is a device known by any self-respecting rogue.
It was finally returned to me.

Louverance: Ulmia, are you able to sing the verse we just heard?

Ulmia: But, I...?

Louverance: You do have a penchant for expecting the worst, dear Ulmia.

Louverance: There may not be a need for that melody at all.

Ulmia: I...!?
Why would that be?

Louverance: Once Lord Bahamut sees Prishe's magicite, it may be enough to convince him. And...

Louverance: And we would not want to lose the Star of Tavnazia...

Ulmia: ...?
What do you mean?

Louverance: ...
There is something I would like to ask Prishe.
Ulmia, let us meet with her in Jeuno.

Louverance: Player name, please go on ahead to Bastok.
