Historical Background[edit]
In Roman society, the Prætor was a government official who administered justice. They functioned as senior judges in Roman law. They would handle civil and criminal law cases, as well as legal cases dealing with 2 foreign parties in Roman jurisdiction. They had 6 bodyguards and wore purple-lined white tunics. Prætor is Latin for a "man who goes before others".
