Redirect from 'Campaign Ops' and 'Campaign Op'[edit]

The game lists it int he translator as {Capaign Ops} and yet when you search the wiki for "Campaign Ops" you get a list of random stuff(The actual campaign ops page is somewhere in the middle). I think searching both of these terms should redirect to the "Campaign Operations" page. I'd do it myself but I have no idea how. Grm88 05:44, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

It appears to redirect for me. --Leuq 23:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Changing the AN/XP reward next to to OP on the main page[edit]

I've been doing some more testing on the OPs and have confirmed that rewards cannot go under a certain level, ie the base reward for an OP. This is when the demand for the OP has floored, and is thus at 0. Like I mentioned below in my theory, the reward calculation is probably along the lines of (Base Value For The OP) + (Bonus Value * Demand), making a 0 demand give the OP only the base Value. So I propose we change the rewards listed to the Minimum reward players can expect (the base value for XP and AN), and have people gather statistical data on re-dong the same OPs to see how much the rewards decrease to try to figure out the Bonus Value for each OP(as well as the max demand perhaps, as max demand is probably dependent on your nation's current strategies) --DarkJack 10:56, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

New Campaign Operations Star-rating system[edit]

The new system rates Campaign Ops based on your nations need. One star means not needed at all and five stars means it is very needed. Your reward is now based on how many stars the Op has when you undertake it. These are percentages based on the standard amount given. Please stop changing XP/AN rewards in the table. The base amounts need to be left the same so people have something to compare the new percent calculation to. I did some testing with all star levels and put the results right above the table. This is a lot simpler than adding 4 new columns to the whole table. --JTimmons 04:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Even with a 3 star rating EXP/AN seemed to change. Material Storm III gave 360Exp/1038AN first time, the next OP credit gave 353/1019AN.--User:Lethewaters 22:08, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I can second this. I just did Brave Dawn III, which should be 310 exp and 1020 AN with 3 stars. It was 4 stars when I did it, and I got 362 exp and 1193 AN, which is more than +11%. --Kyrie 02:51, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Somebody has added to the main page that repeating the same op will lessen the reward by a tiny amount each time. The only question now is, at what point does that penalty reset? There's no way it will be a lasting effect as eventually all ops will only be worth 1xp/1an. Has to be either a weekly reset (Sunday 11a EST?) or a certain amount of time has to pass between each attempt. My bet is on the latter. --JTimmons

Post-Update star adjustments[edit]

Does anyone have new information concerning the star adjustments that have taken effect with this new update? I have noticed that the 1-star Ops are penalized much less than they had been before. I did not have the foresight to record the exact XP reward I received from Streetsweeper III (Windurst), but recall that the reward was around the 260xp range. I was receiving 132 XP before. --Leuqarte 16:10, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Does doing the OP in a low lvl job, gives you a bonus? or is the exp amount shown the exp you gain when doing it at 1 star? Because i did 2 Ops i had never dne beore both at 1 star and I got 1 exp more thn stated here and 3 more AN than mention here. --Ryuogo 3:00, 22 June 2008

EXP/AN decrease when repeating a Campaign Op[edit]

"Hidden under the Star rating is a finer rating that will determine the actual Experience Points and Allied Notes given. This rating decreases with each completion of the OP by any player, thus if one keeps doing the same OP, the reward will be less on each subsequent completion of the OP."

After reading that, I tried to do some campaign ops again after a long time, to see how bad the decrease in EXP/AN was. I did 7 consecutive Streetsweeper III (San d'Oria) (one star), and always got the same amount: 132 EXP and 418 AN. So no drop at all, and the amount EXP/AN equals the one-star rating for this mission. Since I haven't done any ops or any WotG stuff in a while, I don't think I hit a minimum level either. Why didn't the amount decrease? Or is there another unknown factor? Zaphor 09:59, 14 June 2008 (UTC) (Note by Nekotaru:*** I believe this is because when you were repeating them you repeated them all at 1 star. I have noticed the drop/decrease in experience points only when repeating an Operations Mission that was rated at more than 1 star.)
I know this is a poor example, with only 1 repeat, but I did Vanguard-X III (San d'Oria) twice, the first time getting 300 exp and 900 Allied Notes, the second time getting 297 exp and 891 AN. So that's a 1% decrease from each reward. --Vuclutout 20:49, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Has anyone tested whether that penalty will reverse itself once different Ops have been completed? --Leuqarte 18:49, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
I was the one who added that part. I noticed the reward decrease as I was doing OPs, and formulated the following theory:
  • Every Campaign OP has a "demand value", as you all well know.
    • Derived from this value is the Star Rating.
    • Each time an OP is done, the value is decreased by 1.
    • Thus, if the OP is done enough, the Star Value will drop.
    • I'm not sure how much "value" equals what Star Rating yet, but I will take 64 per star as a value for example (FFXI tends to use binary values for these things). So that would make 0-63: 1 Star; 64-127: 2 Stars, 128-191: 3 Stars, 192-255: 4 Stars; 256-319: 5 Stars.
    • The reward is calculated by using the demand value.
    • So, using this theory, take for example you're doing an OP that has a current rating of 129, thus showing 3 stars. You do it once, get reward, select it again, 3 stars again, you finish it, and go back to do it a third time. Since this time the value will be down to 127, and show a 2 Star Rating.
    • The value cannot go under 0, thus if it's a 1 Star OP it's possible it has hit "bottom" and will not decrease in reward when repeated.
    • The reward calculation is probably something along the lines of (Base Value For The OP) + (Bonus Value * Demand)
Hope this clarifies things, its still a work in progress, but I'd like input on my theory.--DarkJack 14:48, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Because I do not want to doublepost, I would like to redirect to Talk:Prying Eyes I (San d'Oria) to point out that my theory seems to be correct, as I have found statistical correlation. More data on that and other OPs would be most welcome.--DarkJack 15:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

On Defensive Operations Not Being Available[edit]

Earlier today I selected Defensive Operations but only one option was available: Quit. A few seconds later I tried again and got all the Defensive Operations for my rank. I paused for a few seconds to tell my friend that Aegis Scream II was up. When I selected the operation, I received a message: "all slots for the operation are currently full. Please try again later." Now, I can only speak for Defensive Operations, but there seems to be a limit on the number of people that can have the operation at the same time. A few minutes later I was able to get the Aegis Scream II operations, presumably when someone had just finished the operation. --Enyae 00:10, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

IF anyone knows the true answer for this dilemma I've just ran into, please edit this. I thought i knew how the Campaign OPS and which ones were available worked. I was under the assumption that the more areas a nation controls, the more Ops are available. Sure enough this past Sunday (12/9) Bastok gained 2 more areas on Garuda for a total of 5 (the only area we don't' control in our region is Pashow). As soon as that happened i went to Hieronymus and sure enough Bastok had more (almost all) OPs available, except for the few i will list now:

Supply Transport: Crimson Domino I
Security: Streetsweeper II
SUpplly Manufacture: Crystal Fist II
Offensive: Smokescreen II
Defensive: Aegis Scream II
Intel: Hawk Eye II
Military: Brave Dawn II

Now I suppose if we take Pashhow as well those will become available, problem with that is if there's no areas under Quadav control we CAN"T do some of them. >.< But as SOON as bastok got more areas and OPs unlocked i went and did Smokescreen I, Slaughterhouse I, and Hawk Eye I. I had 3 OP credits and the Quads still had Pashhow, so i wanted to get those cleared.

However here's the dilemma. I get on today, I have 2 OP credits, and I wanted to do Brave Dawn (costs 1 OP credit). It's Tuesday, only two days since the Tally. Since i did the 3 OPs in Quad areas i listed in the previous paragraph, i did get another promotion.. I now have the Allied Ribbon of Bravey (3rd medal). But as weird as it would be, getting a promotion isnt' the problem. Because a LS member still is on his second medal and he had the same problem. I went to look at the OP mission list and MOST of them had vanished! The only ones available were the ones that were there when this started (Stock and Awe I, Material Storm I, Vanguard X-I, Crystal Fist I, Iron Anvil I)! Everything else was gone. I'm sitting there like wth?!?! Bastok still had 5 areas. We didn't lose any areas... so why did we lose Campaign Ops selections??? If anyone knows how Campaign Ops REALLY work, please shed some light.

[reply] i am also on garuda, but with sandy. i've found that at the beginning of conquest updates there are more quests avilable because of what was chosen at the NPC that asks about what we should improve. (the Army Curate) i found that there is only a limited number of each quest available and when they are gone they are gone. if anyone else can comfirm this please reedit this.

[reply2]

Availability of campaign ops also is affected by your nation's current war climate and battle strategies. It would seem to be me that a nation currently focusing on preemptive strikes would have access to more offensive operations than one focusing on defense and intel gathering. P.S. This should probably be on the talk page. --Dewin 20:57, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[reply3]

A country's prosperity, fortifications and resources are all effected by which Campaign Ops are completed. I know morality is reduced from losing a battle, but not sure if it can be increased, in part, by having maxed out the other attributes. Also, i have not yet been able to test whether certain missions are no longer available after maxing out a specific attribute. For example, doing the Campaign Op 'Crimson Domino I' will increase your nation's resources. If you can accept this mission after resources are maxed out (300/300 for example) i don't yet know. --Dorren 23:18, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[reply4]

I once accepted Crimson Domino II, completed it, then came back and tried to do it again, but it was no longer there. Also, though both of my main characters are in Windurst(S), they both get very different Ops available to them at different times. One of the two hasn't been able to even so much as accept ANY of the Supply Manufacture missions since I completed the first mission within the first week the expansion came out. Yet the other character has completed the first two. Similarly, after the second week of WOTG, I haven't been able to accept Intel Gathering missions on either character. Could this mean it's completely random?

[reply5]

I think a certain campaign OP can "run out" of availability. For example, my wife and I complete campaign OPs at the same time. For a while we did Crystal Fist I and II (Supply Manufacture - Windurst). At some point, I completed my 3rd one out of 7 tags. She went to get her 3rd one immediately after me, and it was no longer available. We then did Streetsweeper II for a bit until we ran out of tags. About 3 hours later, our next Campaign OP tag came available. We checked Crystal Fist II, and it was back again.

Similar thing happened a week later. Crystal Fist ran out. We did Campaign battles for about two hours. Then we checked the NPC again, and "Supply Manufacture" was back.

In my opinion, its a combination of either "Only X amount of a certain type of Campaign OP is available every Y period of time" OR "Only X amount of a certain type of Campaign OP is available for a particular player, and then they must complete Y of other Campaign OP types to have a certain type of Campaign OP to become available again." --Loial

[reply6]

I too had a similar problem. Bastok, LVL 75, Allied Ribbon of Bravery, and my last Campaign OP before advancing to AR Glory. I was looking through the list and to my surprise had ONLY 2 options. Every slot said -Quit.- with the exception of Resource Procurement's Stock and Awe and Materiel Storm. Did Materiel Storm and advanced to AR Glory. Have no updates as to it's current status but I will be able to check again tomorrow. That being said, I am fairly certain that initial Campaign Ops are dependent upon your nations current military view. Obviously if the military has a focus on launching preemptive strikes, while keeping in mind intelligence surveilance, Need for the offensive missions will increase greatly as well as Intel ops to a smaller degree. Missions that are deemed unnecessary are possibly given out less frequently. It is also possible that people are 'holding' missions and thus decreasing the amount of possible participation. --Delvish.Ind 05:13, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

[reply7] As far as different things being available to differing degrees... maybe that is related to the "survey" that is done in the area, about where people think the nation should be devoting its resources to the most.

Job Change possible?[edit]

I'd like to get the exp on a lower level job then my highest level job which is 66WAR, since my WAR is in a static with my b/f's WHM. But my next highest is 41 and in some areas it can be a bit dangerous with a 41 running around, so I was wondering if anyone knows if you can start an Ops with one job change to the higher job to complete the fighting (such as the Defence Ops) and then go back change jobs again to the lower one and get your Ops assessment and the reward? --Demigoddess 02:41, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

The XP is awarded the moment the op is completed, not when you go turn it in. The allied notes are earned when you turn it in. Thus, it's impossible to get the XP on a job different from the one that completed the op. The notes COULD be earned by a different job, but that doesn't really accomplish anything. --Dewin 21:59, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Thats not entirely true. I know the following ops can be done on lower level jobs (this is based on windurst, I dont know about certain aggro potential for San d'Oria or Bastok related areas): Stock and Awes (Farm items on high lvl job, turn them in to Quatermaster on low lvl job) Material Storms (see above) Vanguard-X I + II (III could be doable if you get a friend to each track one of the reinforcements) Crimson Dominos (if you need to find ??? its in a non-aggro area, just dodge aggro to outpost after getting supplies) Street Sweepers Crystal Fists Iron Anvils Pit Spider I (Provided you can get to the BCNM area in one piece...and have 2 people willing to do the fight for you. Never done Pit II, so I dont know how difficult the fight is) Granite Rose I (see above) Hawk Eyes Slaughterhouses Brave Dawns (see Pit Spider for details) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nynja (talkcontribs).

Most of those C.Ops can be done on a low job entirely. The original question was about changing from a high to low job on C.Ops that cannot be done at lower levels, in order to receive the exp on the lower job. The C.Ops you mentioned cannot be done like this, you receive the exp as soon as you complete the actual task. You can change jobs after receiving the C.Op but before you start the task, but, as Dewin correctly stated, this is true for all C.Ops, even the ones that require higher level jobs. You can, however, do those Ops entirely as the low job, and thus receive your exp on the low job.

To answer the first question though, no you cannot do the task and receive the exp on two separate jobs. However, C.Ops can still be an excellent way of exp generation for low jobs, with the C.Ops. Nynja mentioned -- ones that don't require fighting (which are most of the C.Ops) - Hiachi 00:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Level 1-9 Jobs[edit]

Well, I just tried to do Hawkeye III, Slaughterhouse III, Streetsweeper III as a SCH01. I got zero experience points and varied allied notes; I also tried Streetsweeper I... zero EXP again. I switched to COR09 and tried Streetsweeper I once more... zero experience points, but got allied notes. Bluplanet 23:42, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Campaign Ops Table Format[edit]

I was looking at the picture form the .DAT files that User:Wayka posted on Talk:Materiel Storm I (W) how it showed that the Ops mission have up to tier 3. I made a table with all the know missions and it looks like this: SandBox1. I think it's too big as it is. I was going to add it to this page but I don't like how long it looks. Can someone think of a different way of displaying them with Bastok and San d'Oria (to put in this page) and not make it look huge? Thanks --Lito 06:56, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

When I did the 'new'ish layout (which the current one is a derivative of), I actually had a singular "Reward" column that listed Notes/XP as seen here: User:Dewin/Campaign Ops Reorg. This saved some horizontal space, and also allows for other rewards to be listed (if some later campaign op can also grant an item or something). --Dewin 20:47, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

What about something like this: User:Dewin/Campaign Ops Template. It's implemented using a handful of custom templates, so the layout can be adjusted without having to touch the actual content. --Dewin 21:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

This looks really nice. Few nits. 1. I would change is the color of the footer (maybe match the top). 2. Links for "XP" and "Notes". --User:Gahoo/Sig 22:08, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
The footer color was chosen to match the "Legend" of mob aggro shown on zone mob lists for consistency, though it's possible you caught me in the middle of tweaking it and didn't see it. Also, I thought linking the same term multiple times was a nono (with it linked the first time that it is mentioned), am I mistaken in that regard? Either way, it's trivial to update the templates. --Dewin 22:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
What should I name the resulting templates, and should I build them in Template: or as subpages of this page? (Does a subpage of a category become a subcategory in its own regard, and will the fact that it's a category page break the template behavior?). There are five altogether: Start and end of table (includes headers and footers), Campaign Ops Category (with a parameter for category name and number of ops), Campaign Op (the individual table rows), and Campaign Rank (changes "ribbon1", etc. to what you might expect. They COULD feasibly be reduced into as few as three, with the start/end templates combined (which ensures they both are used) and the Campaign Rank template included in the Campaign Op template (but then it can't be used elsewhere). --Dewin 22:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I'll build them as subpages of the category, that should work since I just realized that {{/SubpageTemplate}} works and the templates are specific to this page. --Dewin 01:59, 19 December 2007 (UTC) Update Actually this makes them show in Special:Unused Categories, so that's a Bad Thing. I'll just build them as regular templates.--Dewin 02:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I divided in the previous versions both Experience and Allied Notes columns - so ppl could sort Campaign Ops by these items (needs to add autosorting to main row). I think the change (B/S/W) is good - since more Campaign Ops will show up, but lets divide the last column as it was before --Huckster
Autosorting won't work properly because the first column spans multiple rows. If it was possible I would have done the same. It's a moot point though - any op that gives more notes than another op also gives more XP, so sorting by notes effectively sorts by XP as well and vice versa. --Dewin 16:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I split them by popular request. It's in the templates, so won't show in the edit history here. --Dewin 19:55, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
It looks very nice now! Medals too :) --Huckster

Category Display[edit]

If we want to save even more horizontal space, we could eliminate the "Category" column of the table and instead have the categories be a cell that spans the entire width, i.e. like this (but more pretty)

Operation Nation Medal Needed Members Notes XP
Resource Procurement
Stock and Awe I B • S • W Ribbon § 1 480 90

I don't know which style I prefer myself, but I wanted to toss it out there to get people's opinions on it. It would requires template changes to implement so this page itself wouldn't need to be touched. --Dewin 19:55, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I'd like it if the display showed them by rank, I want to be able to look at the table and go.. Oh I'm Emblem && or whatever.. and be able to see which is the best one to do for my current rank. The table does look nice, but it doesn't have the utility I desire. An alternative to changing the table might be to add a small table to the individual medals with this information, though it'd simply be replicating it (you'd likely best show which ranks actually add new campaign ops as well). Medals[edit]

Moved the medal listing to the main Campaign Category page.--Meara 13:58, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Redirect from Campaign Operations[edit]

Can someone with the appropriate wiki-skills add a redirect from Campaign Operations to Category:Campaign Operations? --Lleo 23:54, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Done --Dewin 05:53, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

OP credits[edit]

We should probably add a "OP Credits needed" in this section as well. as some campaign ops need more credits then others.--FFXI-Mischa 22:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, all Ops only use 1 credit. You must have just lost track of how many you had done. --JTimmons 04:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, according to the game information, "At least one credit is needed to join most campaign operations. More advanced missions will cost you extra." This indicates that while there might not be any Ops that require more than 1 credit right now, there probably will be in the future, making Mischa's suggestion a good one. --Eirenne 02:21, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Ops abbreviations[edit]

Shouldn't each of the campaign ops pages be abbreviated as in the game? i.e. it is "Aegis Scream I (W)" in the game's mission list, not "Aegis Scream I (Windurst)," and I don't think the abbreviations of (W), (S), and (B) are exactly vague either. --FFXI-Melios 19:02, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Cut & Cauterize I (W)[edit]

This OP was available in my list at Sterling Star. I unfortunately did not check it while I was Bronze Star, so I don't know if I had it then too. --Toksyuryel 22:56, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Cut & Cauterize II (W)[edit]

I just ranked up to Mythril Star and this Op appeared in my list. --Toksyuryel 03:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Magna Cache III (W)[edit]

I tried this to deliver supplies to Fort Karugo-Narugo (S), it took me 4 minutes and 14 seconds, but I wasn't fast enough and failed the mission.--Leane 19:18, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Completion spread[edit]

Completing Campaign Ops appears to spread across multiple campaign battles. I signed up for Aegis Scream 3 a little while ago. I took part in a battle in sauromogue champaign, received 1000 allied notes and 1800 EXP. Didn't complete the Op. Another battle started immediately, which I took part in. It was very short. I only received 500 allied notes and ~900 EXP. The Op was completed after this one.

Steel Resolve I (B)[edit]

I have the Bronze Ribbon of service and able to do it. --ElPhantazmo 20:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Number of regions under control[edit]

does anyone know if number of regions under our control has anythign to do with which ops are available? I came to windy [s] today to do some Iron Anvil Ops but currently only tier 1 is available. Windy has only Windurst Waters under our control atm. I am normally able to do tier 4 and my rank is up to date. Ryeshinyih 19:15, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Funds ![edit]

Spent every time the nation does a campaign battle, funds are also used to increase the number of troops and increase their armor quality. Raised by: Areas controlled at campaign tally, maintaining a high prosperity level, and by Smokescreen, Pit Spider, By Light of Fire ops, Cracking Shells, Splitting Heirs, and Plucking Wings ops. Will be raised at the expense of supplies if it drops too low.

just wonder if anyone really know how the "Funds" geting raised... not sure if you have to do Smokescreen only because Windurst & Bastok has only 1 Star and Sandy 9 sometime 10 O.o! and yeah from my experience this is on many Servers the question is why ^^

Bailey Borer and Slaughterhouse V[edit]

I was able to do these with Wings4 so they do not require Medal1
