Could anyone confirm if these are arcane, unclassified, or what? --Jopasopa 17:58, 26 January 2007 (EST)

The weaponskill Slapstick can also be used by Sharpshot Frame monster automatons. Orenwald 07:18, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

Automatons to check if they are NMs are not[edit]

The Fantoccini's Automaton (ENM60) should be checked to see if its a regular enemy or classified as a NM and Osschaart's Automaton ("Copycat") has been in the .dats since April. There hasn't been any confirmation it even exists yet (well, it exists, but the question is whether it manifests like every other enemy or roams the great .dat sea like Qn'phuabo) and whether it has NM status or not. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 10:34, 27 January 2007 (EST)

You beat me to it, I was going to put on the bestiary talk page if all pets of NMs are NMs themselves, including pets with normal names. I'm pretty sure they all check as impossible to gauge, so I don't see why they shouldn't (I think everything in a battlefield does, except maybe Assault battlefields). --Jopasopa 10:55, 27 January 2007 (EST)

Demon Affinity[edit]

I can confirm that Demolition Automatons that appear in Demolition Duty are considered demons. A PLD that came with me wearing Crimson Cuisses was intimidated by the automaton when attempting to cure it. Since Crimson Cuisses have Dragon Affinity, and since he was not using any other food or equipment that would trigger a different Family Affinity, and since Automatons have no known way to possess the Dragon Killer trait, we can deduce that automatons are demons.

Hah! Some may consider this further proof of PUP's origins as Necromancer (along with the mage-heavy gear). One would normally think Automatons to be Arcana or Unclassified. Good discovery. Might be nice to get further confirmation (i.e. sample size n>1), like having that Crimson Cuisses friend fight a Troll PUP with a Troll's Automaton. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 05:24, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Another way to test it would be to use Radiant Breath on an Automaton. If it receives 25% additional damage, it either has an innate increased Magic Damage Taken trait (akin to Flans) or it is a Demon. I'll test this out when I get a chance. --Eremes 19:48, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Well after some testing, I can affirm that enemy Automatons are not considered demons. Radiant Breath produced precisely the expected damage without the bonus 25% increase to a Demon family enemy. A player with a Demon Family Magian Trial can double check this by seeing if Automatons satisfy the trial criterion. Otherwise, moving this page back to unclassified. The mystery of the Demolition Automaton remains to be solved. --Eremes 04:25, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
