Talk:Sentinel's Scherzo

This appears to have a -pdmg effect (or -dmg?) that scales with skill(?) or damage received(?). Lowest observed is -23% and highest is -28%. More testing needs to be done. Source: [[1]] --Asmoranomar 15:36, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

It is now being reported by reputable sources that the Augment Songs bonus offered by the Eymperian+2 armor increases the potency of Scherzo to 95%. Source: [[2]]--Asmoranomar 15:19, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

All I can tell you is this is a Godsend to melees fighting some of the NM bosses that can 1-shot them in Abyssea (and elsewhere). Unfortunately it has taken too long for the info on this ability to get out so party leaders still generally want nothing but March x2 or March>Minuet (or Madrigal if acc is a problem). With so much refresh or other MP restoration moves this is an excuse to put the bard in the melee party going after NMs; considering that mages spend all their fights running these days in Abyssea you weren't going to hit them with your Ballad anyway. Especially useful in the tank's party if using a paladin; ninja have their own ability to avoid being one-shot but considering the recast Scherzo still might be useful.

All that being said this song is only really useful against spike damage mobs. If you are dealing with mobs that kill through an accumulation of punishment (Hundred Fists, TP spamming, etc) it is probably better to go with Minne or Mambo, perhaps Carol and barspells if fighting something that spams magic. Good luck getting a party to use defensive buffs when there are offensive available though.--Deadmeataru 22:06, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Full af3+2 and capped skill is only giving 34% damage reduction. the 95% reduction was patched or was mistaken for the carol II bug, which was patched.
