Talk:Ibushi Shinai +1

It seems that the HP +10 MP +10 affect only comes into account if you're wearing the Ibushi Shinai +1 when you call your NPC. I called mine, targeted her, and equipped the sword. Her HP did not jump from 100% to anything lower. I also engaged an enemy, but alas her HP still did not change. I assume, of course, that the NPC stat bonuses work the same way that PC stat bonuses do: when you equip HP+/MP+ gear it does not also instantly grant the HP/MP (an example would be the Shield Earring), but it does instantly boost your total possible HP/MP pool.
I would like someone else to verify this before an edit is made to the article.

I'll try to do some research on this next time I summon my NPC. Though, I'm wondering if unequipping these items will remove the effect, or if the only thing that matters is having them equipped when you summon. If the latter is the case, the hydra gear and the event katanas would be considerably more useful.

Quote from the Adventuring Fellow Guide:

With the exception of Hydra gear, these items need only be equipped while summoning your NPC for the effect to work. Once your NPC is summoned, you can unequip the weapons and armor and keep the effect.
