I put it in. I like it. Pictures make the site look better. And the info is good also :) --Gahoo 05:06, 1 May 2005 (PDT)

ToAU Jobs Ratings[edit]

The 3 new Jobs can use some work on this page. There's still a lot of question marks next to some values for the new Jobs (like one of BLUs). Some of them are even missing values (the Guarding page says PUP has a value for Guarding but this page lists nothing in that slot). It should be easier now to determine what letter grades and +/__/- the 3 new Jobs have and to know what slots they have no rating in and which ones they have a rating in but its low (example- can't BLU use a Shield? I thought they had had some Shields they could use and would thus have at least some shield value). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 19:16, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

For one thing, COR does not have a club skill, as erroneously listed here. Fixing it. --Fhathead 03:04, 15 September 2006 (EDT)

Changed a link[edit]

Hi, 1st time editing this/any wiki

I changed the 2nd link from the old one that pointed from Old version to the one I just finished translating, the old english one is from 2004 like it says and like the previous comments noted not updated for ToAU.

It uses the JP version as a template (which is updated with the new jobs. I cleaned up the code and made it much easier to read (imo)

It still has some minor bugs that I don't know how to fix if anyone that's knowlegable in javascript has some free time, I'd like your help in fixing that last bug. --Themanii 21:07, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

BST scythe[edit]

I know how to change most pages but I have a headache right now and all the new sort information, etc ... I didn't want to get it wrong lol. BST Scythe caps at 240 and is B-. Dagger is 230. It has dagger higher than scythe. Can someone please update so I don't screw it up lol thx :-) --Bekisa 18:01, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

"A" vs. "A-"[edit]

The article cites FFXI Skill Capture. Neither that nor the original Japanese version uses "A-"; both only have "A" and "A+". Should FFXIclopedia stick to the Japanese classification, to avoid confusion? --Itazura 04:56, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

A vs A-[edit]

yes mine used A instead of A-, but it's not on purpose the way the origional javascript was written requires that there is something for A if there is to be an A-

none of the origional code was changed, all i did was put it in an external file and make it easier to read

if someone with good knowledge of js can help fix it so that i can add in A- without having to put in dummy fields and breaking it really badly

i think i left comments somewhere that this was the case, but they were pretty low profile

if anyone knows a fix leave me a msg here or something and i'll update mine --Themanii 01:19, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

To be honest, I rather change wiki to match the Japanese notation (i.e. Don't use "A-", only use "A".) The majority of data on this subject came from testing by Japanese players (AFAIK), so it'd be good if we stick to their notations. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Itazura (talkcontribs).
Well in my mind it's always been A+/A-, but i can make a note on my page that it is A-
or we can just remove references to A- on this page,
either way it doesnt change the fact that A is broken into 2 groups,
take your pick --Themanii 15:38, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

Inconsistency in Page Titles[edit]

This page is called Combat skills, and has charts for Magic Skills. It could be renamed Skill Levels or the like. The pages linked to at the bottom of this page are called simply skills, and contain only combat skills, and could be renamed as such.

Strange happenings in skill-up.[edit]

I've had a habit now, for a while, of going to Sea to skill-up my singing/wind/string skills on bard between parties, or if I generally can't think of anything to do. Up until now, I've only really had about five to ten minutes to spend singing threnodies on the goldfish, just about long enough to cap singing and wind, and get 1~2 skill on wind. Today, I decided to cap everything off before I head off to farm, so I start spamming away on my little instruments those threnodies the goldfish love to hear (they keep coming back, after all). 24 skill later (I'd conjecture it may be 25, because I stopped partway between 187 and 188 skill, but don't have the chat log to support it), all skill-ups ceased. I'd been used to getting a full skill every ~45 seconds to two minutes or so, so when I hadn't even seen a .1 in fifteen minutes, I was quite shocked. Might there be a hidden "cap" to how many times you can raise your skill in a certain time-frame? I'd like to think I'm just unlucky, but I'm sure there'd be a pretty easy way to test this, though a little time-consuming. Level bard from 1-75 without singing a single song, then take it to sea (again, no singing allowed). Maybe use a character that has sea but never plans to use bard. Teach the bard only the elemental wheel of threnodies (Earth->Lightning->Water->Fire->Blizzard->Aero), then have them spam them on a goldfish. Heck, maybe even not have to be 75, I'm willing to bet 60 would be high enough (or 66 for bard maat, though I'm not too sure how well a 66 bard with no skill would fare.. Not that skill takes long using this method). Any takers? Aok1313 09:25, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

Version update for February 2011 skillup tweaks.[edit]

I feel I should point out that this page will need to be adjusted since the version update. It is now possible to cap skill on decent challenge monsters instead of even match and higher. Anyone willing to do the math and feeling up to the task, I call on you! ^_^ --Kikorimo 18:45, February 15, 2011 (UTC)

Apparently SE goofed. Either in the update or in the announcement. While soloing pld 31-32 in Qufim Island I capped shield on easy prey monsters...--Kikorimo 12:43, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
