Notes:
- Spawns approximately every 12-15 hours at 20:00-4:00 on the:
- Barge from Central Landing to South Landing via Newtpool
- Barge from South Landing to Central Landing via Emfea Waterway
- This is because these are the only rides between 20:00-4:00 Phanauet Channel; it is not fished up. (Not meaning these routes happen only at night every 15 hours!)
- Soloable at level 60
- Special Attacks: Blood Weapon
- Spawns only on the front side of the barge (Either near the Tonberry or on the opposite corner).
- It can spawn and get carried onto the next barge if not killed (even if claimed) but will despawn at 04:00. If he despawns, it is the same as if he died, so he'll pop on the next 12-15 hours (tested).
- The ship bound for the South Landing via Newtpool arrives at the Central Landing every Vana'Diel day at 19:20 and arrives at its destination at the South Landing at 23:40 every Vana'Diel day. Another ship bound for the Central Landing via Emfea Waterway will arrive very shortly after the ship from the Central Landing departs. Vodyanoi has a chance of spawning on either of these rides but is NOT a 100% chance.
Historical Background
In Slavic folklore, the Vodyanoi (also spelled Vodonoi, Wódjanoj, Vodyanoy) were male water spirits who could change form and were said to live in whirlpools or underwater palaces made from materials salvaged from sunken ships. The most common form they took was an old man with a green beard and covered in muck. Many drownings were attributed to Vodyanoi. The bodies would not be retrieved out of fear it would anger the Vodyanoi by taking his "spoils" from him. Locals appeased Vodyanoi by giving them the first fish caught or pouring butter in the water. Their name means "watery". Vodyanoy is also the name of a crater on the Neptunian moon Triton.
