Voidwatch Notorious Monsters encompass a new system of Notorious Monsters introduced in the May 2011 update. Similar to both Abyssea and Voidwalker Notorious Monsters, these NM's can drop rare spoils, Periapt and Atmacite to those who participate in these cross-dimensional battles. Upon successful defeats of lower staged NM's, a player's Stratum Abyssites can be upgraded to a new tier by talking to a Atmacite Refiner, excluding a few which require certain quests to be completed, see Stratum Abyssites. Along with the higher tiered Stratum comes the opportunity to fight a harder NM. However, the player still has the option to fight the lower staged NM's, and doing so will not cause a penalty to their higher tiered Stratum.
Chapter I: In the May 2011 release, Stage I-IV were added for the Three Nations region. Each nation stratum is received at a Voidwatch Officer at each specific nation.
Chapter II: In the September 2011 update, Stage I-III were added for the Jeuno and Zilart regions. Gaining access to these battles is not automatic. The quests Drafted by the Duchy and Voidwatch Ops: Border Crossing must be started in order to participate in the Voidwatch operations within those respective regions.
Chapter III: In the December 2011 update, Stage IV-VI were added for the Jeuno region. The quest Re-Drafted by the Duchy must be completed in order to be able to spawn Voidwatch NM's past stage III.
Final Chapter: In the March 2012 update, Stage I-II were added for the Aht Urhgan and Tavnazia regions. Along with these 2 regions, the final area Provenance, was added for those who have advanced far enough along the Voidwatch Quest line.
