Category talk:Qutrub

When an actual mob called "Qutrub" is added, this should be added under historical background on their page. If no such mob named Qutrub will exist (i.e. they will all be named other things), then this should be placed on the Qutrub category page. Its more likely there will be a mob named Qutrub though, since the Corse family has a mob named "Corse".

Historical Background[edit]

In Arabic mythology, the Qutrub is a type of Ghoul. The Qutrub resides in cemetaries and feed on the dead. If a living being comes near, they were feed on them. In some accounts, Qutrubs were the male version of Ghouls, who could only be females. See Ghoul for more on their mythology.

Unblest_Jambiya[edit]

I saw this strangely-named move used with their second blade. --Jopasopa 20:31, 19 December 2006 (EST)

This move MAY be blockable by Fanatic Drink in Beseiged. I had Fanatic Drink (Physical Shield) active when this went off, and got "No effect on Vaius", as well as my HP not dropping at all. Can anyone else verify? --Vaius 20:06, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

aggro[edit]

these definately do aggro.

atleast the Lamia Idolater in Caedarva Mire do. it aggroed to atleast sound. not sure about sight.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roger (talkcontribs).

-Put up sneak and run straight through one of these in Caedarva Mire near Dvucca. Aggro'ed me even with sneak up and max HP. Change aggro behaviour to sight also? --Asterius 21:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Qutrub don't aggro sound, they aggro sight, and in fact Hide works on them.

Actually, they aggro both by sound and sight as well as low HP. -- Orubicon 20:18, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Take triple damage from melee damage?[edit]

Can someone tell me how this thing take triple damage from melee?
From my parsed result, My guess this mob only take double damage from physical damage. If it's really take triple damage, then this mob is the same, if not harder than Bahamut 1 DEF and VIT--VZX 01:08, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

I think triple damage is wrong also, but I haven't tested carefully enough to be certain. Double damage seems about right. I think the skillchain damage example needs to be revised also. These do take extra damage from skillchains, because when the closing weaponskill damage (already around double) determines the skillchain damage, that damage is doubled again. --VxSote 12:10, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Rename?[edit]

Query whether this need to be renamed to the plural "Qutrubs" in light of usage in 2008 - (06/18/2008) FINAL FANTASY XI Update. This would also separate the category from the Qutrub mob itself. --User:Gahoo/Sig 15:22, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Spinal Cleave[edit]

The info was wrong, fixed it. They use Spinal Cleave only with their "dagger", not with hands. They use Hex Palm when fighting Hand-to-hand.

RE: Spinal Cleave - I observed the qutrub ready the weaponskill while having bare hands. It then pulled the dagger out and put it back again after the weaponskill. --Nightplague 14:24, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Followed up on this theory again, feeding it tp with only hands up. it used the ws, and our blu learned the spell. --Nightplague 14:23, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

  • Confirming this: went an hour and a half without seeing a single Qutrub use the spell even though I was breaking the first weapon and not the second. The first one that used it did not have its weapon drawn; it drew and resheathed its dagger as a part of the ability animation. FFXI-Ironside 07:05, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
