Anyone know what raising the skill does exactly? It just says makes it more effective? Does it lower interruption? Increase damage? Lower resistance more?

It lowers interruption rate for sure, and fairly certain it affects damage of the elemental wheel and accuracy of debuffs. It does not effect how much it lowers resistances. --Urth 07:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

It's the same as any magic skill. Increases magic accuracy and attack, lowers interruption rate. --User:Chrisjander/Sig 17:54, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Other magic skills affect only magic accuracy and interruption rate I believe. From some minor testing I did on nin/drk, +5 skill is either too few to increase magic attack, or ninjutsu skill simply doesn't affect it. Skyver 19:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Is there a ninjutsu modfier ?

INT for debuff and elemental spells. Super Morphius 22:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC) ---

Any thoughts if maybe Cha effects the debuffs? I find it odd that the Ninja AF head piece has CHA on it. Maybe like BRD debuffs. I know int defiantly helps with DMG spells. Demmis10 Sep, 2009
Ninjutsu damage is calculated in the same way as other magic damage and is modified accordingly by INT and MAB (and MDB on a mob). Just had a "debate" with friends about this and quick tests in Abyssea confirm affects of INT and MAB. Increasing INT and then stacking MAB gives predictably better results than stacking INT alone. --User:Dibble/Sig 15:48, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Does it affect casting time? Kogenta 12:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

No. Only Fast Cast will effect casting time. Haste/slow as well as Fast Cast (and weakened..) will effect recast time. Super Morphius 22:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Three NI missing or forgotten ?[edit]

When we see the Ninjutsu spells board from the NIN job description page, everyone have certainly the same reaction "where are the three missing ni ?"

  • MONOMI NI.
This spell never existed. We all know it. It's a "sneakjutsu" recently introduced in game only in his ichi version.
Why only ichi Monomi while Tonko exists in two versions is another question. And only S.E is able to answer.
  • DOKUMORI NI & JUBAKU NI.
I made my FFXI character in june 2006 and bought for fun the OFFICIAL STRATEGY GUIDE Spring 2004 version online.
Of course I barely used it... Yesterday eve I had no internet, and decided to sort out my notes, dig this guide up, and open it for a smile.
And page 93 am surprised to see the two previously named spells. Dokumori ni : level 52, water based . Jubaku ni : level 55, ice based.
Is someone an old player enough to remember/confirm if NIN ever had them and then they were removed (for any reason/purpose) ?
Is someone know if it's a known bug in this OFFICIAL guide (printed with S.E credits etc...) ?

Is this one of the Japanese guides publishes by Softbank or SE, or an English-language guide?--User:Anthoron/Sig 10:44, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
It's an english version for PS2 and PC. Final Fantasy XI official strategy guide by Michael Lummis, Edwin Kern and Helizabeth M.Hollinger. With Kathleen Pleet. 2004 Pearson Education, Indianapolis. Silence[edit]

Are ninjutsu spells affected by silence? Darkseedx 07:40, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, they are. Remora.Komachii 10:07, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

As a Subjob[edit]

Is it unreasonable to expect to land debuffs on exp-granting mobs with NIN as a subjob? For example, can a DNC/NIN expect to land paralyze using Jubaku: Ichi? Or is the skill too low to be worth bothering?--IneptOne 23:23, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

At best, your skill from sub will be capped for level 37, which means your skill can only really be relied to stick spells on mobs around level 40ish and lower. Anything higher than that and you're going to have difficulties due to lack of skill/accuracy. --User:Chrisjander/Sig 23:27, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
