Job?[edit]

Feral Drain has proven beetles (Besides the obvious Lumberjack) to be PLDs, should we change the job on this page? or are we not taking the jobs from Feral Drain seriously as some are obviously stupid (Evil eyes being WAR/BLM for one)? Emperordragon 04:34, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Pankration isn't a good way to determine jobs. Dark elementals in Xarcabard use absorb-mnd etc. but the soul plate has them as black mage and I cannot even set it to be a dark knight. --1.quos.vita.habitum.captivus 20:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I have no idea why Dark Knight is listed as Beetles' job anyway. Can't really put a category on a top-level species page like this, as there are some members of the species (NMs in particular) have different jobs from the "norm". Eg. Lumber Jack isn't a Paladin. He uses Blood Weapon, Enstone, Stonega 4 and Quake. This would mean he could be DRK/RDM/BLM - three jobs at once?

Most of the monster families in this game have Double Attack so them being Warrior main isn't too far-fetched, but I wonder if they do not have the restriction of having a "sub job". IE. they could be 50 WAR/50 BLM, which would enable them to use Black Magic spells of or around their WAR level. If you consider it, it starts to make sense. But we have no solid way of confirming this... Aequis 10:36, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Category pages are not supposed to have job listed on it anyway, job is reserved for the individual mobs' page. I removed it from the category page. --User:Wayka/Sig 12:48, 16 September 2007 (CDT)
I disagree. Most mob families are all the same job, so it makes perfect sense to put the job on the category page. --Valyana 09:28, 18 September 2007 (EDT)

They are PLDs. Lv.67 Starmites have 311 Defense. Studio Gobli's formulas for mob stats match that perfectly if you run the numbers using PLD/PLD for their jobs. --FFXI-Armando 18:52, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

I haven't met any drk beetles that weren't NM's but I've met plenty with double attack, suggesting warrior if as you insisted on the crab page they are based on job templates only and can't have modifications to take them outside a jobs standard. --1.quos.vita.habitum.captivus 18:00, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I suggest you check again, because Beetles don't Double Attack. Moreover, please don't ignore the data I posted - their Defense levels clearly point to them being PLD. Even if they did Double Attack, that wouldn't disprove anything, since mobs can have both a main and sub job. A PLD/WAR mob would have high Defense, yet still Double Attack. --FFXI-Armando 05:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Please stop taking everything said about a singular mob as applying to its entire family. one beetle in my exp party damn well DOES double attack, it did so. Its in my log. I forget which but when I find it again I'll get you a screen shot mr expert. Not every line of beetles will be identical. I *think* this was a helm beetle. I'll get back to you. I did not say ALL beetles might be war now did I? If you get a screen shot of a beetle double attacking making the category page say pld/war would be an equally wrong blanket statement since obviously stag beetles in jugner don't have DA. Seriously you have a problem man. And did an admin removing the job from the category page tell you nothing? No matter how hard you wnat to be you are NOT an authority either on this site or on FFXI information in general. --1.quos.vita.habitum.captivus 23:55, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Job argument now moot[edit]

The new template with its common and uncommon job listings kills it. We can agree to leave the NM job(s) in the uncommon section and pld as common can't we?

side note: I won't be adding war to either unless unless I get hard evidence so chill. --1.quos.vita.habitum.captivus 20:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
