Procedure

Entering the Walk of Echoes

Players may warp to the Walk of Echoes by examining the Veridical Conflux located in Xarcabard (S) while in possession of the "Kupofried's medallion" key item. The key item may be purchased by examining the same conflux and speaking with the Moogle Kupofried in a cutscene. Kupofried will charge 1000 gil to make the medallion.

  • To enjoy the battle content offered in the Walk of Echoes, players must be level 70 or above and have progressed TO (you do not need to complete "Cait Sith," only have the mission flagged.) the "Cait Sith" mission of the Wings of the Goddess expansion.
  • Entering the Walk of Echoes zone does not consume the medallion until you select a specific numbered Conflux battle area to enter, much like Limbus zones.

Walk of Echoes Battlefields

Upon arrival at the Walk of Echoes, players will encounter several more veridical confluxes, each of which acts as a portal to a battlefield. The need to lay claim to battlefields has been omitted from the Walk of Echoes, and any one may enter and partake in battle until the maximum capacity of thirty-six adventurers has been reached. The time limit for each battle is 45 minutes, with no extensions possible. The clock will start ticking the instant the enemy is engaged, and participants must vanquish all monsters that appear within the allotted time in order to secure victory.

  • The key item Kupofreid's Medallion will be expended upon entry into a battlefield. To reacquire the key item, players must wait one Vana'diel day before examining the veridical conflux located in Xarcabard [S] once more and paying 1000 gil.

Temporary Items will be made available to players should certain conditions be fulfilled. While these will be distributed among all participants, the type of item obtained by each character will be determined randomly.

The number of battlefields available will at first be limited, but more can be unlocked in succession by cooperating with other players and securing victory in preceding battlefields. Additional battlefields are being planned for future version updates.

  • Inside of the battlefields, there is no EXP loss if you die.
  • You can receive skill-ups inside the battlefields.Verification Needed
  • As of the September 2011 update, participants who remain KO'd for 30 seconds will now automatically receive a Raise effect.
  • Each person is rated on a similar system to Campaign. Participants receive experience proportionate to their participation. If a participant is rated highly enough, they may become eligible for item rewards.
  • If the battlefield is successfully cleared, Armoury Crates will spawn in various locations around the battlefield. Those participants rated highly enough will receive a message stating their eligibility for treasure rewards, and may open any armoury crate to receive them. Note that the evaluation requirement is set very low. As long as you actually participate in the battle, you will generally qualify for rewards.
  • Upon pulling the first monster, the battle will begin, the forty-five minute time limit will start, and enemies will attack in waves.
  • Each battlefield has a Battle Progress percentage, which represents the combined HP of all boss monsters. When the Battle Progress reaches 50%, new players may no longer enter the battlefield.

Tips

  • Non-boss monsters have normal movement speed, making it easy to kite around the rugged terrain.
  • Boss monsters do not appear to have movement speed+ however they have a longer than normal attack radius, making movement speed+ gear a necessity to kite them.
  • Monsters appear to have bonus damage on targets lower than 80.
  • Only the Boss monsters need to be killed in order to win. In the September 2010 version update, the AI behavior of the monsters was changed in several ways. In cases where monsters are isolated, it is now possible to pull single isolated monsters without a sac pull. This is unrelated to alliance hate monsters may have. Monsters CAN be single pulled if they are far enough apart not to link. In some battles, other monsters in the area may travel to the spot where an earlier monster died. This will be indicated by a message as the monster dies stating "The fiend thirsts for blood!" If players move away from this location, the monster will not attack.

Rewards

  • Vanquishing all foes within the allotted time will produce a treasure chest, and only those participants whose contribution to the battle was deemed satisfactory will be granted the right to open the chest.
  • Numerous treasure chests will appear around the battle field. Those who qualify may open any chest in the field to obtain their reward.
  • Please be warned that regardless of remaining time, all participants will be transported from the battlefield five minutes after either victory is secured, or the treasure chests are opened.
